Rugged Servers

Captec’s Specialized Rugged Server (SRS) range provides systems engineered for deployment in the harshest applications. These systems are designed to operate reliably where exposure to shock, vibration, electromagnetic interference (EMI), platform motion, temperature variation and unstable power conditions would compromise conventional computing infrastructure.

In these conditions, systems must maintain consistent performance and high availability while aligning to recognized military/defense standards, including MIL-STD-810H, MIL-STD-461G and DO-160G, alongside considerations for TEMPEST-controlled environments where required.

The SRS range spans compute-focused, storage-optimized and GPU-accelerated architectures, supporting processing, storage and data analysis workloads across demanding operational applications. Typical deployments include naval, subsea, airborne and land-based platforms, as well as industrial environments where environmental resilience and long-term reliability are critical.

Reference Designs

SRS reference designs are available in 1U and 2U 19-inch rack-mount formats, enabling a common rugged server platform to be deployed across differing physical and operational constraints. Short-depth configurations support integration into space-constrained platforms, while maintaining high compute density and I/O capability.

Each platform can be configured to support server, workstation, GPU processing or network-attached storage workloads. High-bandwidth connectivity options, including copper and secure fiber interfaces up to 100Gb/s, enable integration within wider system architectures while maintaining data throughput and system performance.

Consistency of rugged platform design supports repeatability across programs, simplifying integration, qualification and through-life support while maintaining alignment to application-specific requirements.
